DRC: 10 new Mercedes-Benz buses “made in DRC” to expand Transco’s fleet

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, the Minister of Transport, Roads, and Decongestion of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Marc Ekila, presided over a ceremony to hand over ten (10) 49-seat buses, Mercedes-Benz “made in DRC”, to the General Director of the Congo Transport Company (Transco).

“This second delivery will be added to the 21 vehicles already received on November 17, 2023, from the company “Supreme Automobile” which has a contract with the Congolese government for 230 buses for its public transport company,” said a press release from Transco.

During this ceremony held at the Royal Square in the Gombe commune, Minister Marc Ekila specified that “Transco will start receiving 10 buses of this type every month.” He also expressed his satisfaction with the country’s ability to assemble buses of such quality, while urging the population “to use these buses.” It is worth noting that “Supreme Automobile,” the assembly plant for these Mercedes-Benz 1723 buses, was inaugurated on Saturday, June 10, 2023, by President Félix Tshisekedi.
